At Young, you can enjoy a Pick Your Own Cherry experience or let someone else do the work and purchase some fresh delicious fruit.
The Young Cherry Season typically runs from the beginning of November to the end of December. The exact timing depends a lot upon the weather. After Christmas other stone fruits such as plums, peaches, nectarines, apricots become available.
Don’t forget the biggest event of all at the climax of the cherry season the National Cherry Festival which in the first full weekend of December.
We recommend contacting the Young Visitor Information Centre on 1800 628 233 to find out what fruit is available for your visit.

GO FISHING ON WYANGALA DAM
The Wyangala Dam is the second oldest dam built for irrigation in NSW and It is the only dam on the Lachlan River system which feeds the Murrumbidgee River, and in turn, feeds the Murray River.
“Lake Wyangala is located a short drive from Cowra at the junction of the Lachlan and Abercrombie Rivers. The lake is a clean, clear vast expanse of water. The surrounding area offers excellent accommodation and camping facilities. There are bungalows, cottages, cabins and even a couple of houseboats. IRISH WOOLFEST BOOROWA – OCTOBER
Head to Boorowa for the Irish Woolfest, a major event for NSW and a highlight on the Hilltops Region’s Spring calendar.
Boorowa is world-renowned for its fine Merino wool, and the event showcases the beautiful wool from the region. The week-long festival has wool shows, wool workshops, shearing displays and much more all around the town.
LET FLY AT THE HARDEN KITE FESTIVAL – OCTOBER

“Ben Hall’s Cave, reputed to be Ben’s hideout cave has been preserved by the National Parks and Wildlife Service. Situated on the western side of Weddin Mountain the cave is a sprightly 30-minute walk with a great view of the surrounding farmland. The Weddin mountains have three marked walking tracks. MAKE HISTORY ALONG THE YOUNG HERITAGE WALK
The best ways to embrace the past and interact with some of Young’s most noteworthy landmarks is by taking a self-directed heritage town walk. Two walks are recommended and both start from the Young Visitor Information Centre at the former Railway Station on Anderson Park. WALK BESIDE THE RIVER IN BOOROWA
Enjoy the walking trail along the Boorowa River. Keep an eye out for duck-billed platypus and Boorowa’s iconic Superb Parrot. A perfect spot to take the bicycle.
