The capital of the South Coast.
Being close to Sydney many Sydneysiders do not consider Wollongong as a holiday destination.

The locals and many people from across Australia know differently and enjoy Wollongong’s beaches and attractions that shelter beneath the Illawarra Escarpment.

Many stay at the caravan park at Coledale which has an extensive beachfront walking path that takes you past excellent cafes.
Close-by is the historic Scarborough Hotel a pub with spectacular views and top food.
The locals flock to Samaras Lebanese Restaurants and Amigos Mexican Restaurant.
“The Gong” has great sporting facilities with golf clubs, tennis clubs, yacht club, football clubs and bowls clubs and services and social clubs too.
The cities art gallery and exhibition spaces include The Wollongong Art Gallery, The Australian Motorlife Museum, and the Project Contemporary Artspace.
Wollongong and the surrounding region cater for the adventurous too with mountain biking, surfing, hiking, hang gliding and parachute jumping.
