ORANGE ART TRAIL – RHONDA CAMPBELL
Rhonda Campbell is an artist & printmaker living in Orange NSW.
She works from her home, where she has two studios, a painting studio (her tree studio) & a printmaking studio at the bottom of her garden.
Rhonda trained at the National Art School in Sydney, taught art in Australia & Design in London…later ventured into the Fashion Industry & had 25 years, playing with colour & design.
Since retiring in 2000, she went home to “take up the paintbrush” & has been working full-time at her art practice since. Her works are process-driven, exploring & experimenting with many varied techniques & media, both in painting & printmaking. The paintings often inform the printmaking & the most painterly printing techniques are used (mono-printing, collagraph, drypoint etching are combined with Chine Colle)
Rhonda is inspired by her extensive travels, especially into the Australian outback & landscape. This is obvious & shows through her love & use of colour & texture. Her works aim to express a feeling or sense of a place rather than reproduce what the camera can achieve. Many works are abstract. where her mark-making is her own handwriting…a language without words…her own lexicon.
Rhonda loves to paint & says “I love to paint…I live to paint” & she has a regular studio practice in which she has learned to trust herself & her intuition.
Rhonda hopes her audience enjoys her works as much as she does creating them.
