GUNDAGAI VISITOR INFORMATION CENTRE
Local information about Gundagai the picture perfect country town.
“Gundagai is a classic Australian country town located on the Murrumbidgee River between Sydney and Melbourne. It would have to be one of the most picturesque areas of the Riverina (OK, so, we might be a little biased). It’s a perfect spot to stop, break your trip, explore the town, meet the friendly locals and gain a great insight into Australia’s pioneering past. There are plenty of interesting and fun things to see and do in and around Gundagai.”
We recommend that your first port of call should be the Visitor Information Centre for all the local information that you will ever need.
SEE RUSCONI’S MARBLE MASTERPIECE AT THE VISITOR CENTRE
Monumental mason, Frank Rusconi, left an impressive legacy for Gundagai in the form of a unique cathedral-in-miniature.
Built from 20,948 hand cut, turned and polished pieces of NSW marble, the cathedral showcases the beauty of the State’s marble.
Frank Rusconi owned a marble quarry near Orange at Borenore. A large block of his marble is on display at the Orange Botanic Gardens.
